IPMAT

The IPMAT exam is conducted by the Indian Institute of Management, Indore. The exam is conducted once every year for admission to the five year integrated programme in management. The exam is conducted in the computer-based test mode or online mode every year. The complete IPMAT admission process is online. Students who have filled the IPMAT application form online on the official website will be required to appear for the online exam on the designated exam centre. The students need to reach the exam centre in order to take the online test. For the multiple-choice questions, students will be required to select the radio button on the computer screen against the correct answer and for the short-answer type questions, students will be required to type in their answers on the answer tupple given on the screen. 

Preparing for the Verbal section of IPMAT requires a systematic approach and regular practice. To begin your preparations for the Verbal section, start with understanding the syllabus. This section focuses on the student's hold on the language. It includes topics such as Vocabulary, Grammar, Reading Comprehension and Critical Reasoning. Students should practice reading articles, essays, and passages from various topics to improve your comprehension skills. Focus on understanding the main ideas, supporting details, and the author's tone and purpose.

Focus on building your vocabulary by learning new words regularly. Use flashcards, vocabulary apps, or word lists to expand your word bank. Understanding the meanings and context of words will help you tackle synonym-antonym questions and sentence completion questions.  Along with this, brush up on your grammar skills by studying essential grammar rules such as tenses, subject-verb agreement, articles, prepositions, etc. Identify common grammatical errors and learn how to correct them.

Cultivate a habit of reading newspapers, magazines, and quality articles. This will not only improve your reading speed but also keep you updated with current affairs, which can be beneficial for the General Awareness section.

Consistent practice and dedication are essential for excelling in the Verbal section of IPMAT. Keep practicing regularly, analyze your progress, and work on your weak areas. 

Some of the best books that you can read for the Verbal Ability section include Word Power Made Easy by Norman Lewis, High School English Grammar and Composition by Wren and Martin, Pearson Guide to IIM Indore-IPM Entrance Examination from Pearson Publications, Objective General English by SP Bakshi, etc. 

Students applying for the IPMAT exam can choose only test centre. And the IPMAT test city cannot be changed once the form has been submitted and also during the form correction window. The details of the IPMAT  test centre will be mentioned on the IPMAT admit card along with the date and time of the exam and the students will also be informed via SMS or email. The IPMAT exam is conducted in as many as 28 test cities namely:

IPMAT registration fee can be paid only online. There is no provision of paying the application fee offline. Candidates need to pay the application fee online in order to complete the IPMAT application form. The candidates applying for the IPMAT exam must note that the IPMAT application process is completely online from filling the IPMAT application form till paying the application fee. There is no offline communication. The application fee for IPMAT is INR 4130. The application fee for IPMAT can only be paid online using a credit card, debit card, internet banking or UPI. Students belonging to the reserved category are eligible to avail a fee concession. The IPMAT application fee for reserved category students is INR 2065.

Candidates who wish to appear for IPMAT exam must follow process mentioned below to know how to register for exam and log in to IIM Indore website:

• Go to website of IIM Indore

• Click on registration link for IPMAT 2026

• Candidate needs to generate a User ID and password using details such as name, date of birth, mobile number, email ID, etc. 

• This User ID and password will also be sent to candidate through registered email and SMS

• Next, the candidate needs to relogin using login details

• Pay registration fee through a Credit or Debit Card or internet Banking

• Candidates belonging to reserved categories need to submit valid and attested certificates supporting their reservation category
