With an IP CET rank of 6456, your chances of getting a seat at MSIT are likely, but not guaranteed.

A rank under 2000 is considered a good chance for getting into MSIT for the general category.

But it might change depending upon your category and the branch which you want.

IPU CET (BTech) follows an NCERT-based syllabus covering Class 11 and 12 topics, whereas JEE Main includes NCERT concepts along with advanced topics. The question type in IPU CET is mostly conceptual and application-based, while JEE Main requires more analytical and problem-solving skills. In terms of difficulty level, IPU CET is considered moderate, whereas JEE Main is significantly more challenging. The competition level in IPU CET is also lower, as it is limited to admissions in GGSIPU-affiliated colleges, whereas JEE Main is a national-level exam with extremely high competition for NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs. No official booklist is provided, but NCERT books (Class 11 & 12) are strongly recommended for science-related courses. Additionally, reference books from Arihant, RS Aggarwal, and Disha Publications can help in preparation.

Yes IPU CET syllabus is largely based on the NCERT

  • BTech: Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from the NCERT books.
  • BBA and other management courses: English, General Awareness, Logical Reasoning and Aptitude but may also require additional preparation.
  • MCA: Mathematics, Logical Reasoning, and Computer Awareness, with some concepts from NCERT and additional advanced topics.
  • However, the exam is not strictly limited to NCERT books. Referring to other competitive exam books can be beneficial.

Hope it helps!

With a NIMCET rank of 7,431, securing admission to MCA programs at NITs is unlikely, as their closing ranks typically range between 500 and 800. However, your IPU CET rank of 349 is competitive. In 2024, the closing ranks for MCA at Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University extended beyond this rank, indicating a strong chance for admission.  Therefore, it is advisable to participate in the IPU CET counseling process.
