It is not mandatory for Indian students to learn Japanese to study in Japan. You can study here in English language. Yes, universities in Japan prefer candidates who are proficient in Japanese.

The best degrees are mostly in Robotics and Engineering because Japan is famous for machines. Computer Science and MBA is also very popular choice for international students. The Masters degree usually take 2 years to finish. Some business schools have 1 year MBA but mostly it is two years.

The cost is cheap compared to USA or UK. For National Universities the tuition fee is around ¥535,800 per year. If you go to Private University it is bit more expensive like ¥800,000 to ¥1,500,000 per year. You need money for living cost also maybe ¥100,000 every month for rent and food.

Yes Japan is a very good place for Masters. The universities like University of Tokyo is top class. It is safe country and you can find jobs easily in technology and engineering. You can study in English language also so no problem if you don't know Japanese. Also MEXT scholarship is there for students which pay for everything.

The top countries where you will not have to worry about paying taxes on your income are the Bahamas, Bahrain, Bermuda, Cayman Islands, Kuwait, Maldives, Monaco, Nauru, Oman, Qatar, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Somalia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Check eligibility requirements such as academics, proficiecny in Japanese and any other requirements such as submission of application forms, LOR, age and health certificates, etc.
You may have to sit in written tests and interviews which are usually conducted at Japanese embassy of applicant's home country. Selected students receive an award that covers tuition fees, living expenses, and travel costs.

Yes, Indian citizens require a visa to travel to Japan. You must apply for a Japan tourist visa before travelling.

Japan is generally more expensive for Indians than India. Especially for groceries and dining out. Costs are manageable with budgeting and choosing affordable cities. Monthly expenses for a student often range from YEN 80,000 to YEN 150,000. It totally depends on spending habits.

Japan is much cheaper than USA. An Indian student needs around 50 to 60 thousand Indian rupees as monthly expenses. For USA, this can go up to 2 lakhs INR.

According to the Embassy of Japan in New Delhi, an Indian student needs YEN 89,000 (INR 50,000) per month excluding rent and travel expenses. If you are going to study in Japan for first time then keep a budget of YEN 700,000 (INR 393,260) for the first three months to settle yourself. This will include your overall expenses.
