The tuition fees is paid by automatic debit transfer at the start of each spring and fall semester. At the time of admission, the tuition and fees for the 1st semester are paid during enrollment procedures.

The automatic debit transfer begins from the 2nd semester onwards. Students can also pay the fees via Flywire.

For courses taught in Japanese, some schools do conduct in-person entrance tests and interviews. In that case, students will have to go to Japan and sit in the test.

Students don't need to go to Japan if they're applying for courses taught in English. Entry to these programs are based only on document screening and interviews.

Yes, students proficient in Japanese are allowed to take classes in Japenese. The Center for Japanese Language delivers classes in Japanese.

To pursue courses in Japanese, students are required to be really good at it. Most Japanese-based courses at Waseda Uni require a JLPT N1 or EJU Japanese score of 260+ on a scale of 400.

Yes, it is possible to change school or major at Waseda University Tokyo.  The School of International Liberal Studies, the School of Political Science and Economics, and the School of Creative Science and Engineering allow students to change majors.

These are the only schools that allow a change of major at Waseda Japan. Students may have to contact the department admin and fill an form to change majors.

No, students cannot transfer to Waseda University from their current institution anymore. Only the School of Political Science and Economics (SPSE) used to accept transfer students at the university. However, it has now discontinued transfer admissions from 2026 onwards.

The university accepted transfer students until 2025. But that is not possible anymore.

There are no set minimum GPA requirements for entry to any of the schools at Waseda University Japan. Students however, are required to maintain great academic scores. The Waseda University Tokyo Acceptance Rate is only between 20% and 45%.

Students with good academics are prioritised for admission by the university. Shiksha Study Abroad counsellors (for free) can guide students the best on the requirements they need to meet to get into Waseda.
