Hello Karthikeyan,
It is good that you are aspiring for IITs. First, you need to have a good conceptual knowledge in physics, chemistry and mathematics. You need to clear all the doubts regarding the concepts. You may also give more time in chemistry as many questions will be very easy and time saving if you are clear in the concepts of chemistry.
For physics and mathematics, you need a lot of practice to improve speed and accuracy. In the state board book, the concept depth will not be in JEE level but the formulae will be really essential.
You need to have the formulae (atleast 85-90% in PCM). In your fingertips as some problems in JE

Yes, of course but NCERT has to be read deeply only then it will fetch you marks. You can just stick to NCERT instead of following other books. NCERT is the best to follow for mains at least but for advance you have to take guidance NCERT will not be enough.

Hello Amar,
The exact ranks cannot be said because the rankings are based on many criteria. Those who have scored high marks in maths are given a top rank and many conditions like that.
There are certain cut-off marks for every category which the students need to get to clear JEE Mains exam. They vary every year.
For this year, the cut-off marks are:
general(oc) -81
obc-ncl-49
sc-32
st-27
pwd-1

Hello Abhishek,
As per your marks in JEE Mains, you will get good branches in top NITs, however admission in Jadavpur University and VJTI is done via WBJEE and MHCET respectively not via JEE Mains.

I am going to assume that you belong to the general category. As for the home state quota, if you belong to HP, you can get admission into CSE, ECE, Mechanical, EEE, Civil and Chemical branches at NIT Hamirpur, but can not get admission into PEC. If you belong to any other state, you can get admission into Civil and Chemical at NIT Hamirpur, however if you belong to Chandigarh, you can get admission into Aerospace, Civil, Electrical, Metallurgical, Mechanical and Production & Industrial Engineering at PEC. If you do not belong to Chandigarh, you can still get admission into all those branches, but by a small margin for the Mechanical E

I got 85 marks in JEE Mains that is 103847 rank and 85% in CBSE boards and I was the last admitted student in IT in DY PATIL Akurdi IT branch. My merit no. was 7157 which was the first round IT cut-off for DY PATIL Akurdi. So, you can see your chances are nil.
