With this rank, you can surely get seat in the best engineering college of your state. You can also get seat in some NITs, but that won't be good enough or you will not be able to get any nice branch. So, I would suggest you to opt the engineering college of your state.

First of all, you have to know about in which field you want to take admission. Clear your ambitions, you must check out on the internet which industry has more scope then ask me the questions regarding your admission.
As per me, aerospace industry is growing very fast.

If he belong to general or OBC category, then chances are very less.
But, if he belong to SC or ST category, then he have a chance to get admission in NITs.

Yes, you have a chance to get admission in NIT Durgapur.
Select the branch in which you love to work and you have very much interest in it with curiosity. Don't follow craze and popularity. Trust me, by choosing your interested field would be best for you than any other fields.

If you have take entrance test conducted by the private institutes like VITEEE for VIT, BITSAT for BITs then you should go there or its better to drop a year.

With this rank, you can only join private colleges. You have an opportunity to get govt. colleges but not this branch. So, it's better to drop or go for private institutes like LPU, Thapar, LNMIIT, etc.
