No, it is almost impossible to qualify JEE Mains with a week's preparation.

In my opinion, HC Verma is a sufficient tool for JEE mains and advanced. If you have a strong foundation, then solve problems from it. This will strengthen your concepts. However, if you want to make your fundamental clear, I would suggest you to refer some other good books like Pradeep or ABC.

To get seat for metallurgical and materials engineering at NIT - Jamshedpur:
1. For general candidates, the AIR must be between 18623 to 31411 (up to 6th round).
2. For OBC candidates, the AIR must be between 5521 to 10406 (up to 6th round).

There are a numerous reference books available in the market like Pradeep, ABC, etc., but I found Pradeep very helpful.

The number of hours actually don't matter for studying. It depends on how the concepts and topics are getting clear to you. Whatever you read, do it efficiently at a time. It is better to plan your studies.

With this score, you should get admission in a good NIT. But remember that from this year, score will be exclusively based on JEE Mains only.

For general category, it is above 200. However, it also depends on which NITs are you aiming for and your domicile state. You can get into some new engineering branches at lower marks as well. To opt for CS, IT and ECE in top NITs, you need to get at least 250 marks in JEE Mains. It depends on your domicile state.

Join a good coaching institute. Prepare for JEE Mains with utmost dedication. Strengthen your numerical solving skills.

Joint seat allocation authority every year declares cut offs. Initially expected and subsequently final cutoff marks for admission to IIT/NIT, etc. You will have to wait to know this for admission in 2017. The cutoff for the category to which you belong was around 50 for the year 2016.
