Hi Mayank,
To be eligible, you must hold a Bachelor's degree in statistics or mathematics. Different universities would be having different requirements. On the whole, you must have good academic grades, GRE scores, IELTS or TOEFL scores, etc.

No, to pursue research in a particular field, you have to complete master in the same. or allied subject with minimum 55 percent mark and also need to qualify for Ph.D entrance exam, need to give research proposal and give interview in order to be selected. In short, you are not eligible for doing research in physics but can relate mathematics in physics research and combine the area.
