The first thing to understand here is that online and distance M.Tech courses are considered invalid in India as per the recent AICTE and UGC guidelines. This is because engineering is a field that needs practical training and lab work along with theory classes, which is not possible in the virtual mode. So, recruiters also give more importance to students with regular, offline M.Tech degrees.
Having said that, there is an option of AICTE accredited online M.Tech for Working Professionals offered by a few popular colleges like BITS Pilani and IIT Hyderabad that is meant for people to enhance their technical skills and learn more besides

The MTech syllabus across colleges differ based on the specialization. The syllabus for M.Tech courses includes some core subjects that are compulsory for you to study in each semester and a variety of elective subject choices that you can pick according to your interests and understanding, something you want to specialize in and take forward in your research career.
So, when it comes to the elective subjects in M Tech courses, you do have that choice of customization but the core subjects are mandatory for you to study.

The M.Tech full form is Master of Technology, and the course fee for studying M Tech varies on the basis of a lot factors like the college where you're planning to study the course, whether it is a private college or a government college, the chosen M.Tech specialization, college location, All-Indian ranking, placement records, etc. The average M.Tech fees at popular Indian colleges is between INR 3 lakh and INR 8 lakh. For the IITs, the M Tech course fees is general high because of their NIRF ranking and popularity in India.

For pursuing M.Tech in India, you should definitely give relevant entrance exams like the GATE exam or other state-level or university-specific exams and score very good marks and rank in the same to be able to get a seat at a decent college. M.Tech courses can be studied in various specializations like Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, CSE, Electrical Engineering, etc.
As an exceptional case, if you are an IIT BTech graduates, you can directly apply for M.Tech admission at the IITs after getting an 8 CGPA or 75% marks in graduation.

Every college has their own admission requirements for giving admission. You can go through the basic list of documents usually needed for getting admission to M.Tech courses:
• B.E/ B.Tech Mark Sheet with at least 55% marks
• Provisional Mark Sheet (if original one is not issued yet)
• Entrance Exam Score card and Admit Card Copy
• Class 12 Mark Sheet
• A Valid ID Proof like Aadhar Card, PAN, Passport, etc.
• Reserved Category Certificate (if applicable)
• Migration and Character Certificate (may be needed)
• Recent Passport-Size Photos

For getting admission to M.Tech courses in India, almost all of the top colleges ask you to give relevant entrance tests and get excellent marks in the same as the cutoffs are quite high for an M Tech degree. The GATE exam is the most prominent exam that takes place every year for admission to M.Tech courses. You need to meet the minimum eligibility requirements of getting at least 55% marks in graduation in any relevant engineering specialization.
Talking about the IITs in India, they do offer an exception to IIT graduates who can apply for direct MTech admission if they have secured 8 CGPA or 75% marks in their BTech degree.

Yes, candidates can get ADT MIT School of Food Technology M.Tech course without GATE exam. Candidates can apply for the M.Tech course with PERA CET exam score as well, since the University also accepts multiple entrance exam. Find below the M.Tech eligibility criteria for the academic year 2025:

Food Technology and Food Safety & Quality Management are the two specialisations offered under the M.Tech course at MIT School of Food Technology. For admission to the MTech course at MIT SoFT, candidates must appear for any one of the entrance exams accepted by the School. Further, candidates must make sure to have a valid qualification to be eligible for the M.Tech course.
