The Master of economics is a postgraduate Master's degree in economics comprising training in economic theory, econometrics or applied economics.
I won't suggest you to pursue it along with M.Tech because both these courses are too tough to be done together. Either do M.Tech or MA.
Below mentioned are the top colleges of pursuing MA are:
1. Indian Statistical Institute - Kolkata / Delhi
2. Delhi School of Economics – Delhi.
3. Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research – Mumbai.
4. Madras School of Economics – Madras.
5. Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics – Pune.
6. UPES – Dehradun.

There are a lot of courses in M.Tech, which you can pursue after completing your B.Tech in ECE like:
1. M.Tech in robotics engineering.
2. M.Tech in computer science engineering.
3. M.Tech in health safety and environment engineering.
4. M.Tech in aerospace engineering.
5. M.Tech in nuclear science and technology.
6. M.Tech in renewable energy engineering.
All these specializations will only be available in the top colleges and it only makes sense to do it from there as it will fetch you good jobs. Try enrolling in:
1. IITs
2. NITs
3. Thappar University – Patiala.
4. UPES – Dehradun.

The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is a standardized test that is an admissions requirement for most graduate schools in the United States. Created and administered by the Educational Testing Service (ETS).
The exam aims to measure verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, analytical writing, and critical thinking skills that have been acquired over a long period of time and that are not entirely based on any specific field of study outside of the GRE itself.
There are no specific eligibility criteria for GRE. Aspirants can register for the test irrespective of age and qualification. Many graduate schools in the United States require

You need to prepare for Graduate Record Exam (GRE), if you are planning to do MS or M.Tech in USA, Canada, Australia, UK and Ireland. You should enquire well about the present scenario prevailing in the country. I mean about the job opportunities because grass will be greener on one side and darker on the other so, make a wise decision and make a final decision and work hard and focus on your goal.
Best of luck.

Job experience is not mandatory for seeking admission in MS abroad. Some universities may give preference to experienced students over fresh graduates.

My suggestion to you would be to consider your interest first. To make it simple for you if you want to stay in technical domain, you should go for ME/M-tech as if you will go for MBA, most of the technical stuffs would be almost useless. On the other hand, M-Tech/ME is good if you have planned to go for Research I.e PhD in future and have a good interest in Research and Academics as well.
Secondly, MBA+BE/B-Tech is a good combination for jobs point of view. So, take a decision after considering both the things.
