If you get admission in any of the top 50 colleges for pursuing MS, then MS is the best choice. You need to score above 320 marks in GRE exam.

There is a lot of difference between a PG Diploma and M.Tech. M.Tech has a higher value than PGD. Also, when you go for a job interview, M.Tech candidates are preferred over PGD candidates.

As per the guidelines mentioned on the GATE website, there is no percentage restriction. They require a Bachelors degree in technology. Even those students who are in their 7th or 8th semester, they can apply for GATE exam.

You need to appear for GATE exam. If you want to opt for M.Tech abroad, then appear for GRE and TOEFL exam.

There are some good coaching institute which offer preparation for GATE such as Made Easy, Career Launcher, ACE Academy. You need to write GATE and score 98 percentile to get a discipline of your interest from a good IIT. You need to keep your basics clear and work out as much problems as possible on those concepts. Do solve previous year question papers.

Graduates with B.Tech in mechanical engineering are eligible for M.Tech or MS in aeronautical engineering in India and abroad.
