The eligibility criteria for admission to Direction, Cinematography, Editing, Acting and Feature Film Screenplay Writing in FTII is that the candidates should have a Bachelor's degree from a recognised university.
For admission to audiography course, the candidates should have a Bachelor's degree with physics as a subject at Sr. Sec (10+2) level.

According to my point of view, I don't think from government Polytechnic, it will be useful to gain the knowledge of film and video editing.
Film and video editing are completely different spheres of a medium.
If you are eager to learn more about the film and video editing, in the field of film and entertainment, then I'll suggest you to join at some film or media institute.

Since it is not clear from your question whether you want to pursue the course at UG level or PG, I will explain both. At UG level, you can pursue a degree in mass communication. The course is known by different names in different colleges and Universities like B.J.M.C. B.M.M.M.C., etc. At PG level, you can either pursue M.J.M.C, MA in Journalism or you can take up a course specific Diploma. Mass communication is an integrated course of various media related platforms like Print Journalism, Electronic Journalism, Advertising, PR, Event Management, Media Research and so on. Yes, of course, you can pursue Masters in Mass Communication. As an eligibility criteria, you only need to be a graduate from a recognized University in any discipline.
