MBA after B.Tech. Is considered a safe option as most of the time, there is a placement guarantee. A simple undergraduate degree doesn't offer the same benefits. Most importantly, a lot of companies consider MBA graduates over B.Tech ones. MBA students are given a lot of practical training or field training with companies that hire them. Companies spend a lot of time and enormous money on training these employees. Most undergraduate courses don't provide B.Tech students with proper field training or hands-on experience. Yes, it's legal but it's not possible to get full time MBA degree with your job. But, you can go for executive or distance learning mode, where you just have to attend some classes in weekends or some e-learning modules to complete your course.
