After admission for MCA with lateral entry, you have to give first year exams also with your 2nd year exams. I think, these only differences are there. After completing these two, you have same value of degree.

Fees structure in VIT for MCA course:
Tuition fees per annum is Rs.90, 000
Special fees (including library and examination fees) Rs.13, 500
Admission fees (onetime payment) Rs.5000
Caution deposit (one time, refundable) Rs.2000
If you don't have laptop, they will provide, by paying Rs.45, 000
Semester wise fees structure for MCA course in VIT:
For first semester you have to pay Rs.1, 04,750 (including laptop)
For second semester you have to pay Rs.52, 750
For third semester you have to pay Rs.52, 750
For forth semester you have to pay Rs.52, 750
For fifth semester you have to pay Rs.52, 750
For sixth semester you have to pay Rs.52, 750.

You should go for MCA. Most of the institutes require 45 to 50 % aggregate in qualifying exam for taking admission. Reserved categories get some relaxation in aggregate percentage. Apart from this there is another prerequisite for taking admission in MCA degree; one must have studied Mathematics in 10+2 as a compulsory subject. Direct admissions are done on the basis of merit in qualifying exam. After taking entrance test qualified students are called for counselling. Counselling is conducted for seat allotment in various colleges under that university. Admission is done after allotment of seat in counselling.

You can do BCA as it accepts 10+2 from any stream. Your BCA course will cover required modules for MCA.

Eligibility Criterion:
Eligibility criterion for admission through lateral entry differs according to University. Eligibility requirement for some of the well known Universities is mentioned below. Admission to the programme is based on the scores obtained in qualifying exam as well as in interview. Some institutes such as Shobhit University conduct entrance exam for admission process.
