Chandigarh University generally has a strong reputation in core engineering disciplines with a curriculum that often focuses more on traditional mechanical engineering concepts, industry exposure through internships, and collaborations with manufacturing and automotive companies; many students and alumni say that CU's train

Mechanical Engineering generally has wider scope than Automobile Engineering at LPU because it covers a broader range of industries such as manufacturing, energy, robotics, thermal systems and even automotive. The core curriculum supports careers in design, production, maintenance and R&D across multiple sectors, which helps students stay flexible in job choices. Automobile Engineering is more focused on vehicles, engines and automotive systems, so opportunities are largely confined to the auto and allied industries. In the current LPU structure, Mechanical Engineering offers stronger multi‑industry placement exposure and more option

The difference is simple. Mechanical Engineering is a core Engineering branch with a career scope in multiple industries. Automobile Engineering is more of a niche branch that is focused on the Automobile industry.
Hence, the career scope and knowledge in Automobile Engineering are limited.
You'll get all the base components of research, design, manufacturing, and testing of mechanical systems, equipment, and machinery in Mechanical Engineering. Automobile Engineering gives the know-how of vehicle design, manufacturing, engine testing, upgradation, and overall maintenance and fuel management of vehicles, especially cars.
