  • Thapar: Avg package ~ ₹10.15 LPA for mech.

  • Amrita Coimbatore: More varied placements, average BTech package is ~₹9.08 LPA.

Which to pick?

  • Pick Thapar if you want stronger core engineering exposure + good campus reputation.

  • Pick Amrita if you want a balance of good placements + a possibly lower course cost + slightly broader peer network.

The cutoff trend for BTech in Mechanical Engineering at IIITDM Kancheepuram has been getting more and more competitive as the demand for engineering education in India continues to grow. Similar cut off trend can be seen for female candidates under all categories however the ranks are slightly different.

Students can look at the cutoff trend in the table below:

Placement Statistics of CU on the whole.

CU had 9,124 in the engineering placement drives (batch 2023-24) and other programs.

In 2024-25, the engineering companies that took part in the placement season are more than 240.

Core-companies visiting on Mechanical and allied branches have been on the increase too.

Specifics of Mechanical Engineering.

Mechanical is lower than CSE / ECE in terms of average median / average package. As an example in 2023, constitutional data indicates:

Branch Median/Average Package
Mechanical Engineering Rs 4 LPA (median)

Good performers also have higher offers. In the Mechanical division, the following are recent

Chandigarh University is best for mechanical engineering.

The department offers specialisation in any of three options: design, robotics, or manufacturing. Few such society groups take part, namely ASME and IEI, opening wide networks. Tie-ups at the International level expose the students to ideas newer than they can comprehend. Placement records are really good with packages. From automobile, energy to electronics, recruiters come from different sectors. The engineers from Chandigarh do not just study books: they know how to do practical applications in a good volume. There are industrial visits, seminars, and workshops always in progr

Yes, Chandigarh University is a good choice for B.E. in Mechanical Engineering. What I really like about the programme is the variety of specializations you can pick, like Thermal & Energy, Industrial Manufacturing & Management, or Automation & Robotics. The labs are another strong point from 3D printing and advanced welding labs to industry-backed centres by Honda, Mahindra, Hyundai, and MG Motors. These collaborations give you hands-on exposure that feels very close to real-world industry work. On top of that, the department is both ABET and NBA accredited, which adds global recognition. With regular industrial visits, workshops, and

I've had a really good experience with the mechanical engineering faculty at Chandigarh University. Most of them are PhD holders, so you can tell they know their subject inside out. What I like is that they're not just teaching from books—they share real-world examples, guide us in labs, and help with projects. The faculty is approachable, so if you ever get stuck on something, you can just ask, and they'll explain patiently. They also encourage students to explore electives like Thermal & Energy Engineering, Industrial Manufacturing, or Design & Robotics, and help you pick what suits your career goals.

Plus, with all the collab

Joining Chandigarh University for mechanical engineering is easy if you meet the eligibility criteria. You should have completed 10+2 with physics and mathematics and one additional subject like chemistry or IT, scoring at least 50%. You can secure admission through CUCET, which also offers scholarships based on your score—top scorers can get the entire tuition fee waived.

Besides CUCET, this university provides scholarships for academics, sports, and girls under programs like the Kalpana Chawla Scholarship. After eligibility and scholarships, you just need to submit the application online, pay the semester fees, and you're set.

Robotics Engineering is a rapidly evolving niche-engineering field with a lot of scope because of AI and automation. The interdisciplinary focus of the field for robotic and autonomous system design makes it a high paying career choice especially who are passionate about robotics and mechanics.

CSE and Mechanical Engineering on the other hand, offer a broader scope for freshers to explore and choose the right path for themselves with a career safety net, high demand and flexibility. So, whichever option aligns better with your goals would eventually become good for you, as all three have their own upsides when it comes to career sc
