In case you don't get your desired college, don't settle for something mediocre. Instead of settling down for some mediocre college, it would be better if you try for some good private university. Many reputed private universities are offering B.Tech ME. They have their different criteria for admissions. Some offer admission on basis of LEET scores, some offer admission on basis of their own tests and some offer admission on the basis of both. Some even offer direct admission on basis of your previous qualification. Some of the universities also offer scholarships on basis of your performance in previous qualification or LEET or even during the course. You can check the details of any of the reputed universities like VIT, Lovely, SRM, etc. All these universities have a wonderful infrastructure and world-class facilities to offer to students apart from good placements.

According to me, the basic difference is discipline. If you will study in Medicaps you will be facing a very tight discipline everywhere. Like you will not able to go anywhere for any reason, you will not able to spend your time in the library. But in Vaishnav there are comparatively low level of Discipline. Vaishnav has a good environment for Bookworms as well as scientist-type people.
but if u want to participate in Baja SAE event then you have to go to Medicaps because Vaishnav College's management refused to support the students
and if you want to crack IES, IAS, GATE and PSU, you come to Vaishnav because you will get time for self-study.
