If you are in the first or even in the start of 3rd-semester, you can drop it and pursue he course of your interest but if you have completed more than 2-years that dropping the course may result in a lot of time loss.

Mechanical engineering is a better option as there are number of opportunities in this field. You can find work from pin to plane. Many PSUs in India are recruiting many Mechanical engineers every year. Private jobs are Aldo available in Automobile, Textile, Heavy Machinery, Construction sectors.
