HI,
There is a book called GATE MECHANICAL which consists of all the fundamental of all the subjects.
I personally feel that the book is more than sufficient for cracking the exam. It costs around 800 INR.

It depends on many factors and vary from college to college as firstly the seat availability in the course in which you wants to go and then your score on the first 2 semester so first try to contact to college for perfect information.

You can use Shiksha College compare for your satisfaction but DY Patil Pune is the good option for mechanical Engineering.
