Why you want to drop from this point as you are in the 7th semester if you have back of semester try to clear the exam by your hard work it is a loss of 3-years which make a great question on your job and your age concern so try to clear the exam instead of drop.
All the best!

Think about studies. How will you handle the course during course period. Job will come when it has to come. Just complete your B.Tech without any back papers and you will be recruited in a good company. It's not just good marks a employer needs. An employer looks for an skilled person.

I think mechanical engineering from Heritage Institute of Technology is a better option but marine engineering takes long. If you go for marine engineering, you go through a long process like interviews, medical checkups. After doing your B.Tech from Heritage, I think you should have to prepare for GATE for M.Tech or you do one more thing which is to start your GATE coaching in the very 1st-semester to last. After doing 4- years of preparation, you will get IIT for M.Tech easily.
