Hello Abishek,
When it comes between VIT and SRM, VIT would be better than SRM University.
So you need to prefer VIT-Vellore to SRM University. VIT has better rankings and offers better education. It is known for its placements so you can prefer VIT Vellore for mechanical engineering.

Placements depends entirely on the student. As per my knowledge, many good companies participate in campus placements and you can expect average package of INR 56 LPA for CSE branch. However, some students gets as high as INR 12 LPA and some gets as low as INR 3.5 LPA.
