The fee structure will be around only 1-1.5 LPA and if you require hostels then it will be a maximum of 2 lakhs only.
The IITs are the best engineering colleges but there will be no difference in the time period. It will be the same 4 years as offered by any other engineering college.

Read about how to draw "plan", "elevation "&" end view" of simple three dimensional objects like:
sphere,
cuboid,
cylinder,
cone,
rectangular parellelopiped,
regular tetrahedron,
regular octohedron, &
other regular objects used in engineering.
I think this will keep you busy for a month. If you still find time, study projection of straight lines & their drawings when they(st.lines) are in:
Horizontal plane ( parallel)
Vertical plane (parallel)
Horizontal plane (vertical)
Vertical plane

Yes, indeed! Your score in polytechnic is good. But unfortunately, these days admissions are no longer based on this but are based on the result of entrance exams. So prepare, appear and score good marks to get a good college.

There is no particular cut off rank. Your rank should be at least below 5000 to get mechanical engineering seat at Vellore campus.
For Chennai and other campuses it is enough if your rank is below 15000.

It's very good to know that you are thinking ahead. Good. Actually what is in your mind? You want to earn money? You can afford three / four years course in engineering after completing diploma? What is your passion? Best is to de graduation after diploma.
Taking an Exam? Selecting a College?
