Hi Vedant,
5.5 is a low score. You may get admission in an average ranked college but visa chances are less. Your admission will depend on your overall profile, your SOP, LORs, career plans, etc. Decide what to study and check for admission requirements before applying.

The definition of best varies from person to person and is influenced by personal inclinations and ones strength for e.g. some people might to go with regular stream like CS, mechanical, electronics and some might go with not so common branches like Robotics, petroleum, mining.
Opt for the engineering branch that you love the most and are most passionate about and analyze the future work conditions, scope and growth prospects before taking admission.
You can also opt for psychometric test comprising of aptitude, personality and career interest to clear confusion.

Just to clarify, MIT does not give scholarships based on merit. If you get into MIT, the financial aid will be solely based on your personal financial situation. Therefore, getting a 'full-scholarship' to MIT only depends on your parents' income and your financial situation. Normally, MIT funds around 56% of your tuition fee that is around 50000 USD total. If you get into MIT, first you need to secure admission and rest finance is to be arranged as well.

I am doubtful. You can check your rank. If your rank is around upto 1500, you have some chance else, you have to take admission through management quota and fee for management quota will be around 1 lakh more than the general fee.

Yes, you can. But, it will depend on your college. You are not eligible for that college if you want to get admission.
