You can appear for Engineering Services and Civil Services examination after B.Tech Mechanical Engineering for job in various Government departments. You can also join three services & paramilitary services Technical arms. You can get engineers job in PSUs, DRDO and other R&D organisation. You are also eligible for PO role in public sector banks.

if you consider placements and salary, you will find that information Science dominates, it has plenty of jobs available in private sector. but, if you consider government sector, mechanical engineering dominates. also, mechanical engineering is an ever green branch, since it doesn't get affected by problems like recession. However, I will suggest you to choose your interest. all the best! !!
