The admissions to Pondicherry University MSW are done on the basis of CUET-PG. During the academic year 2024, the Round 1 closing grades to MSW (General Category) were 102 and in Round 2 these grades decreased to 74. The cut off in case of the OBC category was 60 in both rounds. However, anticipated cutoffs in 2025 are approximately 179 in General, but this might vary depending on the applicants to the exam and their overall results in the CUET-PG. The eligibility is a degree of Bachelor (50 per cent marks).

The MSW course quality is similar in all study modes as prescribed in course syllabus and curriculum at preferred MSW university.

A regular or full-time MSW course is one of the most popular options opted by students. In this students attend the lectures and seminars in the college premises. It aids students in their holistic development. There is a lot of scope for extracurricular activities at the college or inter-college level.

In the Distance mode of the Master's in Social Work, the students do not attend regular college. They receive study materials and get access to the student portal. They would only have to appear in person for seminars and final examinations.

MSW is a perfect blend of both. You'll study many subjects like social work principles, ethics, and interventions initially in the curriculum to form a knowledge base, and then in the last semester, your fieldwork, projects, and internships will help you get a better overview of what you studied and apply those theories in real-life situations.

No, it's not exclusively for Social Science or Arts students; students from any study background can opt for a Master's in Social Work program. However, a BSW will provide the foundational knowledge about the social work field.
But don't worry, many students from different backgrounds opt for the MSW course based on their interests and future goals. For example, many medical students after MSW follow the career path of Medical Social Work.
