NIT Durgapur admissions for MTech is based on GATE score. The institute offers seats under Sponsored and Self-Sponsored Category. After qualifying GATE, candidates are required to come for CCMT Counselling. GATE cutoffs are released online, aspirants with score equal or above cutoff, become eligible for counselling. Aspirants need to register for CCMT Counselling to become eligible for seat allotment. Selected candidates are required to confirm their seat by paying the course fee.

MTech is one of the popular courses of NIT Durgapur. NIRF has ranked NIT Durgapur at 44 in 2024 rankings under 'Engineering' Category. It is one of the recognised NITs of India offering two-year M.Tech programme. Candidates have an option of 18 specialisations in M.Tech at NIT Durgapur. National Institute of Technology Durgapur offers a two-year full-time MSc course at the postgraduate level. Candidates seeking admission to the MSc course need to appear for the IIT JAM entrance test. NIT Durgapur MSc admission is done on the basis of valid IIT JAM scores, followed by a counselling process.

Candidates must pass BSc in relevant discipline with at 60% aggregate or 6.5 CGPA (55% aggregate or 6.0 CGPA for SC/ ST) to apply for NIT Durgapur MSc programme. Besides, aspirants must also pass IIT JAM followed by CCMN Counselling for admission to MSc.
