To get a seat in the National Institute of Technology Uttarakhand undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD courses, candidates must visit the official website of respective national-level entrance exam conducting bodies to register themselves. Eligible candidates are then required to appear for the entrance test, followed by another selection process. Candidates looking for course admission at NIT Uttarakhand must sit and appear for the entrance exam as per respective courses. NIT Uttarakhand selects candidates based on valid JEE Main score for BTech courses. Candidates are further allotted seats through JoSAA Counselling. MTech admission to the college is entrance based with the institute accepting GATE scores. Hereafter, shortlisted students are invited for CCMT Counselling. Candidates seeking admission to PhD are shortlisted for written tests on the basis of GATE/NET/SET.

Yes, NIT Uttarakhand follows the seat reservation policy as per the Government of India guidelines for M.Tech admissions. The reservation details are as follows:
- Scheduled Castes (SC): 15% of seats are reserved.
- Scheduled Tribes (ST): 7.5% of seats are reserved.
- Other Backward Classes - Non-Creamy Layer (OBC-NCL): 27% of seats are reserved.
- Economically Weaker Sections (EWS): 10% of seats are reserved for candidates who do not fall under SC, ST, or OBC categories.
- Persons with Disabilities (PwD): 5% of seats are reserved horizontally across all categories.

Yes, the candidates belonging to the underpriviliged section and seeking admission to NIT Uttarakhand M.Tech course are offered relaxation in the eligibility criteria. For general category students, the minimum eligibility requirement is 60% or 6.5 CGPA for UG. For students belonging to the SC/ST/PwD category, the institute offers a 5% relaxation in the eligibility criteria. Thus, candidates who belong to the above categories are eligible if they have secured atleast 55% marks in aggregate in UG.

In order to get admission to NIT Uttarakhand M.Tech course, students are required to take GATE. After GATE exam, they must appear for the CCMT counselling. It is a centralised counselling process conducted to allocate M.Tech seats. The regsitration fee for INR 3,500 for GEN/GEN-EWS/OBC and INR 3,000 for SC/ST/PwD.
For admission to self supporting seats, the institute conducts an in house interview prcoess. To be considered for this process, students must fill out the institute level application form. Lastly, all students who are offered admissions must complete the document verification and fee payment process.

Candidates who are willing to take admission to non sponsored NIT Uttarakhand M.Tech seat must apply and appear for the GATE exam. The steps to apply for GATE are as follows:
1. Go to the GATE 2025 registration portal.
2. Rgister as new candidate. Generate login credentials.
3. Login using credentials generated in the last step.
4. Fill out the application form and pay the application fees. The GATE application fees 2025 is INR 1,800 for general and INR 900 for female/SC/ST/PwD.
5. Submit the form.
