These are some of the most competitive universities in Australia. The number of backlogs and the overall CGPA is not too impressive but he can stand a chance with very good SOP, projects, internships and of course LORs.

Your IELTS score is not the only factor to decide your admission. The most important factors are your academics, work experience and GMAT scores. Unfortunately, you haven't mentioned these. I will therefore advice you to visit the university websites and check the entry requirements for yourself, for specific queries you can email them.

Both universities are fair off and have different courses to offer on the platter. Blue Mountains is a hotel management school whereas UTAS will offer a business international course.
