Every department is better in their own way. Selection of department depends completely on a person's preference. Bachelors of design is a 4-year course in which the first year is the foundation programme which is common for all department. From the second year, the specialisation starts. If one is interested in designing clothes and fabrics, he/she should opt for Fashion Design/Textile Design/Knitwear Design. If one is interested in Graphic designing, photography, fashion journalism then he/she should opt fashion communication. If one is interested in accessories then he/she should opt for accessory design. Though the highest placement is from the Fashion communication and fashion design department.

If you're planning to go for a graduation course (B.Des), the eligibility criteria are:
1. The maximum age limit to get admission in NIFT for Bachelors programme is 23 years as on 1st October, 2016. The upper age limit may be relaxed by a period of 5 years for the candidates of Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribe/ Differently Abled Person (PHP) subject to following qualifications.
2. Passing 10+2 with an aggregate of 45% marks.
Departments: Fashion Design, Knitwear Design, Textile Design, Leather Design, Fashion Communication and Accessory Design.
The fees structure changes every year. It is usually around 8 lac. For the exact amount, you can visit nift.ac.in. The revised structure is available there. And this remains the same for all the NIFT campus.
Expected salary varies from department to department and student to student. It depends upon your academic performance and your portfolio. The campus doesn't matter much as one can sit for placements from any campus they want.
