It's not necessary but you have to work hard and study on your own. Here are a few tips-
CAT is the most important part of the question paper. Start sketching and develop your own style of sketching and coloring. I cannot stress this enough. Good drawing skills are very important. How you present/draw your ideas is just as important as the idea itself.Keep reading the newspaper (especially around November-December) it'll help you in GK part of GAT and help you generate better ideas. Most questions in CAT are related to current scenarios. For example- Make in India was started in late 2014 and in the 2015 entrances hey had asked the stud

Hi Ranjana,
The best guide books for the NIFT entrance exam are these:
1. NIFT Entrance Exam Guide by Surendra
2. NIFT Exam Guide by Verma
3. Prashant Kumars NIFT Entrance Examination Preparation Guide

You need to give preference to your stream over center. However you need to see if its a safe environment, how the facilities are,ask seniors ,etc. You can always ask the faculty at your counselling center and they will guide you properly. You can also look at NRI seats.

The most important thing they consider in your CGPA. You need a minimum of 7.5 CGPA just to qualify for these programs. As the seats are limited the students with the highest CGPA are selected. For FIT cgpa and a portfolio are the qualifying factors. Once you get selected from NIFT you apply to FIT and go through their admission process.
