Choose NISER Bhubaneswar if you're research oriented, aiming for top PhD programs or R&D positions, and prefer a stipend-supported campus with strong scientific mentorship.

Choose NIT Rourkela if you want a blend of academic education and industry-ready placements, with flexibility to pursue engineering roles or analytic jobs.

Ph.D. programs in the sciences are available at the National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar. However, the precise number of seats varies by department and session. For the 2025 session there are normally 30–50 seats available in subjects like biological, chemical, mathematical and physical sciences. A master's degree with 60% of the possible points and a valid NET/GATE/JEST or INSPIRE fellowship score are prerequisites for admission. Since seat availability is dependent on faculty and funding, candidates should visit the official NISER website for the most recent announcement.

Placements for Ph.D. students at the National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER) Bhubaneswar are generally not focused on traditional campus placements like those in engineering or management fields. NISER is primarily focused on research and higher education, with many graduates pursuing further studies or research positions. While there isn't a placement cell in the traditional sense, NISER provides support for students with internships, PhD opportunities, and connections for research positions.

To make it on the competitive list, one needs to grow some more in NEST (National Entrance Screening Test) to NISER Bhubaneswar, at least between 75-85 percentile ranges depending on category and year.

For general category students under the rank of 300-400 often corresponds with competition for a seat in Klik or NISER; however, cutoffs change with the changing difficulty patterns every year. In the past, securing admission with scores around 90-100 out of 180 marks was a must but reserved category students (SC/ST/OBC) only needed around 50-60 percentile. According to the past years' practice patterns, for now, till March 28, 2025, eve
