National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER) Admission Process
Candidates need to appear for NEST organised by National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER) for Integrated MSc. Candidates need to qualify CSIR-NET, GATE or any national level eligibility test in order to get admission into Integrated PhD/PhD.
5 Year Integrated MSc Programme
- Students enter this course after their higher secondary school at 10+2 level through a highly competitive National Entrance Screening Test (NEST) with fellowships. Students earn Integrated Master’s degree after successful completion of the course and research work.
PhD
- Admissions are generally conducted twice in an academic year. Candidates are selected through a two-round interview process. Exams conducted for this test include National Level Eligibility Test such as NET, ICMR, ICAR, DBT, and GATE.
Postdoctoral Programme
- At present a modest post-doctoral programme is in place. These PDF/RA positions are purely on temporary basis and this programme supports scientific ambitions of the young candidates with an aim to build independent research career afterwards.
- NISER offers admission to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) candidates and for Persons with Disability (PwD), the institute accepts 55%.aggregate marks for BSc programme.

- INSPIRE: INSPIRE is a fellowship programme offered by Government of India to the students having decent grades in Science subjects. NISER allows students to get INSPIRE fellowship.
- NEST Fellowship: NEST is the eligibility test conducted by NISER. Along with this exam, NISER also offers a fellowship programme.

Scholarships and Incentives:-
All admitted students of M.Sc. will receive a scholarship of INR 5,000/- per month ( as determined from time to time ),
from the INSPIRE program of the Department of Science & Technology, Government of India.
Students can avail of KVPY fellowships also.
In addition, students are entitled to receive a summer internship grant of INR 20,000/-(as determined from time to time) annually to facilitate their academic pursuits.
There will be reimbursements for the medical expenditures of the students.
Railway and Airfare concessions may also be availed during the major vacations.
