Based on JEE Main rankings, the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) handles counselling and seat distribution. The Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination, or BCECE, is required for admission to a number of Bihar-based engineering and medical schools; NITs are exempt. However, through JoSAA counselling, aspirants from Bihar can use their JEE Main marks to get into NIT Patna. The latest cutoff information for the admission for M.Tech in computer science and engineering at NIT Patna is 6054 for computer science and engineering (Data science)and 7434 for computer science and engineering (cuber security)

The most competitive course, for the General AI category candidates was Computer Science and Engineering with the closing Cutoff rank of 14442.
