I doubt if your son will get a good NIT with these marks. In case he does't get a good college on the basis of this rank, then he can opt for some of the good private universities like LPU, SRM, VIT, etc., offering various specializations in B.Tech. They have their different criteria for admissions. Some offer admission on basis of JEE scores, some offer admission on basis of their own tests and some offer admission on the basis of both. Some even offer direct admission on basis of your marks in class 12th. Some of the universities also offer scholarships on basis of your performance in class 12th or JEE or even during the course. All these universities offer world class learning atmosphere to students along with good placements.

First of all relax. There is no shortage of engineering colleges in india where as there is a shortage of students. The point lies how to choose the perfect college according to the marks. First check the college of your state if you are getting government college there its well and good else you con sit for OJEE in order to get a government college in Odisha. You can definitely get igit and vssut I cant assure you the branch but yes you will get a core secondly if you have capital you can get into kiit and inter both have a good rank in mhrd nirf and placement is also good if less and you want another option you can go for cv raman college its also one of mhrd top 100 college.
