To become a paleontologist in India, you need to successfully pass 10+2 in the Science stream (physics, chemistry, and biology) after that, you will have to complete a bachelor's degree (B.Sc.) in biology/geology. If you wish, you can also complete a bachelor's degree followed by a master's degree and PhD in the same or related subject. Archaeology and paleontology are inter-related fields. The professions of archaeologists and paleontologists are pursued by candidates who complete a degree in History or related fields.

A Science undergraduate degree is crucial, and preferably one of those. The vast majority of curators have a Ph.D. too. At a minimum they'll usually have an M.Sc. As well as their undergraduate degree. The M.Sc. Will be in either Museum Studies or a discipline
