Both are same.
Polytechnics are educational bodies that impart higher study programs to aspirants. They offer technical degree programs and are much in approach. They offer centralized programs, which can be completed within practical shorter time period. Polytechnics offer industry specific courses, which allow them to obtain rewarding careers with in short time duration.
Whereas, Diplomas are awards conferred on to a person on the successful completion of an educational course by any private educational or vocational institution or polytechnic. The Diploma focuses on getting a person trained and qualified in a particular

Diploma Class 10th pass from a recognised board with minimum 40% marks.
Bachelors Degree: Class 10+2 examination with at least 50% marks.
Post-graduation degree: Bachelors degree from a recognised university with at least 45% marks.
Graduate & PG programs may also require you to appear in entrance exams such as NCHMCT, AIMA UGAT, E-CHAT etc.
