Hello Raj,
Admissions in polytechnics are invariably controlled by the concerned DTEs of Tech-Edu of the state. Normally, states conduct entrance exam based on your rank and you can get the branch that you desire.

Polytechnic are institutes in India to provide entry level education below graduation degree in the field of engineering, technology, Applied Science, natural sciences and other fields. For example Polytechnics in India offer 3 years Diploma in Engineering branches after 10th class. It is a skill based educational qualification which has more practical training. Diploma-holders of Engineering are able to get jobs in supervisory level jobs in manufacturing and services industry.

Hello,
After diploma, various career opportunities open for you in government sector or private sector. Some companies prefer to recruit Polytechnic students rather than engineering students. About government sector these are the opportunity available.
Indian railway
BHEL
BEL
NTPC
Power grid
Electricity department
Talking about private sector you can get the job at the companies related to your field and with handsome freshers package. If you are lucky enough then you can also work as lab assistant at college. The opportunities are limited provided the person must be skilled.
