See,In engineering there is no degree like software engineering and hardware engineering.
If you are studied for the computer engineering or CS also then you should have to cover entire syllabus because it is design in that fashion, After the completion of degree If you are good in programming then you will be considered as software engineer,and if you are good in Networking and Hardware then you will be considered as hardware engineer.
In today's era Software engineer is in full demand but for that you should have to develop your programming skills,also do some certifications

If you have the interest for software the move any best private tech. /Institute for B.tech IT.

B.E in CSE is best.no matter u do B.E or B.Tech there is not much difference between B.E and B.Tech.B.E will be more theoretical and B.Tech will be practical.

in any field like job opportunities ,eligibility ,etc b.tech is far better then diploma.and if u doing ur btch then it is good fr u.
let's talk about the deploma after class 10-.after class 10 u doesn't have the besic idea of engineering .for idea u have to complete 10+2.and in job opportunities approx every companies want the eligibility of 10+2.so b tech is more preferable

.software eng is the core of computer science engineering .here u have to learn the working properties of softwares,programing languages like c,c++,java,.net etc .and here u have to learn how to develope softwares.it is the mother branch of computer science.and it has many career opportunities with a minimum average salary of 30-40 thousand.so if u interested on this stream then go fr it.

Standard degree in the field of Computer Science is BTech CSE. Some universities have started BTech Software Engineering with similar syllabus as CSE. In my opinion both the degrees are same.

both are the good courses, bt today software engineers have much demand then automobile engineers, starting sallery package of fresher is good in software engineering in comparison to automobile. In automobile engineering many jobs demand experience holder candidates. so go for software engineering.

Phd is Not required.
