SUNY Poly campus life can be enjoyed through athletics, housing and dining facilities, clubs and activities, etc. The athletics teams of the institute participates in the sports like Baseball to Basketball to Field Hockey and Volleyball. Housing and dining facilities are also available for students at SUNY Poly. Moreover, the institute offers various student activities ranging from Drone Clubs to Comedians, Concert Series to presentations by leading experts.

SUNY Poly Institute is located in Marcy, New York, just outside the city of Utica. The campus size of the institute is 400 acres. Recreation and entertainment attractions are a short drive from SUNY Poly including ski resorts, parks, lakes, campgrounds, hiking trails, scenic views. Some of the recreational places near the institute are Utica Zoo, New York State Parks, Howe Caverns, etc.

To get into SUNY Poly, the applicants are required to meet the below-given requirements:
- UG: The applicants should have a high-school average of 85% or higher
- PG: A bachelor’s degree in the relevant discipline is required. A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale must be attained by the applicants. Also, GRE score of 153 in Quantitative and 140 in Verbal is required
