For Indian groceries, students can take a short walk to the Symphony Market (291 Huntington Ave) or take a bus/subway to larger grocery stores in nearby Brookline, Cambridge, and Somerville.

Nearby Options and Specialty Markets:

  • Symphony Market (just 0.2 miles from NEU campus) offers essential Indian spices and snacks
  • Madras Masala at 191 Harvard St in Brookline offers a variety of dals, rice, spices, and ready-to-eat meals
  • Little India at 438 Somerville Ave is a good option for larger bulk items, fresh produce, and specialty ingredients

At Northeaster Uni, on-campus housng is guaranteed for Indian students in the first or second-year of UG studies. However, the university does not guarantee housing for students in the 3rd year or beyond (and graduate students).

Students can access the university's housing resources to find affordable off-campus housing, nearby.

Both Drexel and Northeastern Uni are top choices for Indian students, particularly for STEM and Business courses. The choice of which is better depends on a student's career goals and learning style:

Drexel is better for Indian students looking for:

  • More fast-paced studies (quarter-based academics)
  • Lower costs of living
  • Engineering courses (Civil, Mechanical, & Biomedical)

Northeastern is better for students interested in:

  • Slower pace of learning (semester-based)
  • Better global prestige (QS World 2026 rank #384 compared to Drexel's #711)
  • CS, Data Science, or Business programs

Academic requirements for financial aid at NEU Canada campuses vary. Most merit-based scholarships require an equivalent GPA of 3.0 or more on a 4.0 scale. The higher the GPA, the higher the financial benefits.

Students also need to provide documents like academic transcripts and also meet the English proficiency requirements.

No, Indian students don't need to submit a separate application for scholarships at NEU Canada. The primary admission application automatically serves as a student's scholarship application.

Students will be notified of any merit awards when admitted. However, some financial aids like the Torch Scholars program require a nomination rather than a direct application.

Northeastern Uni Canada has a average class size of just 20 to 30 people, depending on the course. This allows better communication between faculty and students. Students also get a more personalized learning experience. NEU Canada intends to deliver the best learning environment to students.

Yes, students can change their programme at NEU Canada. The process depends on whether a student have already started their classes or are yet to.

Students yet to start classes can change major by contacting the admissions office. Highly competitve programs may require an additional portfolio.

Students already taking classes, need to meet their assigned Academic Advisor and submit a Change of Major Request form.
