You have to do graduation (3 years) in any subject of your interest and then do Post Graduation (2 years) in it and qualify UGC lectureship. Or you can join for integrated courses (5 years) which include graduation and post graduation. If you do Ph.D. after Post graduation, then you don't have to qualify NET exam. Some colleges allow you to work as guest lecture even if you have not qualified UGC. It will only be a temporary post. While choosing institutions, choose wisely. The UGC NET exam is conducted twice a year for the selection of candidates for assistant professor posts in the university and colleges, to pursue the Ph.D. and for JRF award. The candidates are allowed to apply UGC NET for the subject in which they have completed the post graduation degree or if the subject is not available they can apply for the related subjects. If you have done your Masters degree relevant to of which subject you want to work as an assistant professor with having more marks than 55% than contact to universities directly in which you are looking forward and according to ucg from 2023 onwards Ph.D. is going to mandatory for join as assistant professor.
