Hello,
There is separate admission procedure for students from states other than Tamil Nadu (Tamil Nadu). There will be an open advertisement in newspapers (may be not all over India)or you can constantly check the Anna University website where the admission notices start to display from March/April for the consequent year. You can apply online through the web portals once they are made available. Selection is mainly through single-window counselling system based on your High school (I. e. 12th or junior college according to your state)marks when studying under 10+2 system in India. Hello Kaushik,
Till last year, admissions were based on entrance exam conducted by Anna University. But from this year onwards this has changed. It will be based on marks obtained in 12th. Due to this cutoffs of last year have lost all relevance. And I am sure your exam of 12th also is over. So, just don't worry. Relax and wait for results to be announced.

Hello Vishnu,
These days almost all states have put in restrictions on admission to engineering colleges in their respective states. Only domiciles can take admission. Of course some seats are reserved for NRI & some for FN's. Some states have certain seats reserved for all india quota meaning for students from other states. In Tamil Nadu its the Anna University which is designated agency. You will find all required information on their webpage.
Best wishes.

Yes, after completing your engineering Diploma, you gets direct entry to 2nd year of engineering. Some colleges take admission through lateral entry exams like Joint Entrance Examination of Lateral Entry (JELET), Diploma to Degree Entrance Competitive exam, etc. So, you need to appear and crack these exams. Some colleges conducted their own entrance exam for getting entry. Admission procedure varies from college to college. So, you will have to contact colleges individually.
