A TOEFL score of 85 is generally acceptable for admission to Bond University. The university accepts an overall TOEFL score of 85 - 98 for postgraduate courses. The university also accepts a number of English language tests, including the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE), and C1 Advanced (formerly known as Cambridge English: Advanced). The minimum test score required depends on the programme the student is applying for.

TOEFL, IELTS and PTE are all English language proficiency tests and serve the same purpose. Candidates are only required to take one of the three tests to prove their English speaking abilities. Mississippi State University's admission requirements for international students comprise of proof of proficiency in the English language as a major entry requirement. However, students can study in MSU without ELP scores if they meet at least one of the criteria listed below:
- ACT score: 19 or higher in the English section; OR
- SAT score: 510 or higher in Evidence-Based Reading and Writing section.
