At first, you should know the eligibility and criteria to apply for the exam. The UGC NET exam is conducted in more than 84 subjects for the selection of candidates for the assistant professor posts in the colleges and for junior fellowship award in a research field. The candidates will be eligible if they have completed the post-graduation degree from the recognized university with more than 55% marks. The age of the candidates should be below 30 years and there is no age limit for the UGC NET lectureship.
One important thing to remember is that you can apply for your post-graduation subject or its related subjects only

Yes, you can definitely apply for the UGC NET Exam if you have completed the Masters in the Library Sciences, the aspirant completed the Master's degree from the IGNOU or distance learning programme is applicable to apply for the UGC NET Exam. To appear in the UGC NET Exam, you need to complete the Masters in the Library Science with around 55 % marks in the programme. The UGC NET Exam is mainly conducted for the aspirants those want to make a career in the lectureship and research programme. There is no age limit to apply in the UGC NET Exam. The UGC NET and CSIR NET exams are conducted for the selection of lecturer in university, to pursue the PhD and for junior research fellowship. The CSIR NET Exam is conducted for the science stream candidates while the UGC NET exam is conducted for the other stream candidates. The candidates are allowed to apply for the subject of their post-graduation subject and its related subjects only.
