As per the market demand and jobs, you would get more opportunities in civil engineering. Petroleum engineering is a good field and has a good growth but job market comparison to other branches is less specially in India.

For IIT JEE Advanced, your concepts of every subject should be clear. The questions of JEE Advanced are difficult. They are made in a way to test the student's creative skills so as he/she can think differently than the others-the basic quality of an IITian.
Now about preparation.
First, clear your concepts.
Solve papers of JEE Advanced from 2000 -2017 year.
This way, you will learn time management and also get where you are now and what improvement is needed.
For clearing concepts, NCERT is enough.

You can go for any other state level government college through state level entrance exam like UPSEE, WBJEE, etc. You can go for BITS through BITSAT exam. Or you can go private college like KIIT, VIT, SRM, UPES, ICFAI, etc. You can also get admission on basis of 12 percentage. If you have score more than 85 or 80 +% then you may get the government college if you have qualified the JEE main. Private college, also direct admission on basis of 12 percentage

Both are great institutions. But, according to my point of view, IISC have a benefit for researchers.

If you are determined to get into any good college then definitely take a gap and prepare well for next year, though there is some problems for 2 years droppers at the time of placements but it will be covered up if you are from any top colleges.

As per MHRD, seats allotted to foreign nationals are supernumerary with a cap of 10% of total number of seats in every course at IITs.

Yes, you have understood correctly. JEE Advanced is only an entrance exam to determine if you can seek admission or not. But for actually getting admission, one definitely needs to pay prescribed fees for that particular course selected.

<p>A percentile of 68 in JEE Mains 2024 is really a bad chance for getting into any NIT or IIT because the cutoff ranks for the best colleges are always far lower than 68. Nevertheless, you will have a decent chance for getting admission to some of the lowest-ranked NITs or one of the new IITs, based on branch preference and competition. One would be advised to look for some other engineering college with less admission criteria or again appear for the JEE Mains in the next session in case of improved rank. Hello Avinash. Since you have already completed the 11th and 12th syllabus, I would suggest you to join a coaching for JEE Advanced if possible. Attempt as many previous year papers as possible and try to get maximum marks. Make your concepts rock solid. Train yourself for speed and accuracy. Both are the colleges are of national importance and very reputed colleges of India but if any one has to choose among these, give first priority to the IITs.
