I can only answer for Faculty and the procedure of Technology and Engineering. Yes the branch for engineering can be changed under 2 conditions:
Reshuffling happens and you get promoted to a higher branch
You top the entire college ( including all branches) and rank in the top 5.

IIM takes admission through Common Aptitude Test (CAT). You have to appear in that exam and based on your percentile, past academic performance and a few other factors, you get shortlisted for GD/What and Interview Rounds. Assuming you are already 21 years in age at the time of completing B.Com and are a general category student you have surpassed the maximum age to appear for JEE for IHM so you will have to settle for private colleges. Most of them will decide according to your 12th or equivalent marks and GD or personal interviews, etc. depending on the private college. Keep in mind the college's reputation does come into play in the initial years.

Post SSC (10th standard) one can pursue 3 years Diploma in Engineering. Post completion of Diploma once can secure admission directly into the 2nd year of BE (Engineering)
post 12th (HSC) one can secure admission into BE (4-year engineering course).

Hi Jagpreet, its an online process, you have to check the university websites for deadlines and submit the online forms. You have taken your IELTS but for PG an overall score of 6.5 with no section less than 6 is required. I will recommend you retake IELTS but also check with the universities if they can give you a bridge course in English. Depends on your overall profile and the admission policies of the universities you apply.
