It is not easy to make a comparison between the two, as both are highly demanding and both are highly profitable once you reach your target.

No, IIMs consider only CAT score which is a yearly exam conducted in Nov/Dec. This year onwards IIMs have profile based calls. Minimum score required is 93-94 percentile unless your profile is exceptionally good. IIM Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta and Lucknow are the top 4 IIMs.
Other top colleges accepting CAT score are FMS Delhi, MDI Gurgaon, SPJIMR Mumbai, IITs (only for engineers).

You can try for Alliance, Asia - Pacific, Indus Business School, Soon Business School, Kirloskar, Prestige Institute. You have score on slightly lower side, you need to perform well in the PI/GD-PI.

Analyze the score and try to determine the percentile in comparison to the last year’s scores. Let me also remind you that this is just to make sure in which percentile bracket you will fall and kindly shortlist and apply for colleges as per the result.

With this score you will not be able to get good colleges.

You have got decent chances at all above mentioned colleges, alternative you can also apply NL Dalmia, Christ, IIBS, ABBS which have good enough placements. If you have chances with KJ Somaiya, then it is the best option.

You may try Tier-2 institutes. Refer to the institutes with good quality of Faculty.

GMAT registration is open through out the year.
You can opt your date of exam and centre as per your convenience.
CAT is conducted in December every year.
