The candidate will be chosen on the basis of merit at the All India level. Every year in February or March, a written objective exam will be administered at a few chosen locations (published periodically). Every year in April or May, students who pass the entrance exam will be invited to an interview at a few chosen centers. Applicants need to be deemed medically fit. A Medical Board of Military Medical Officers will decide the fitness.

The cutoff for the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) has not yet been released for 2025. However, the college follows a unique admission process where the NEET scores are used to determine eligibility, but candidates must also pass additional assessments, including psychological tests and interviews.

For reference, the previous year's cutoff for 2024 was set at 681 out of 720 for female candidates and 666 out of 720 for male candidates. This cutoff was revised later in August 2024 to 675 for females and 656 for males due to a low number of reporting candidates during the screening process.

Your acceptance into AFMC becomes possible because of your completion of every subject while pursuing the improvement exam for better percentage marks. AFMC specified that prospective candidates need to finish their grade 12 course with at least 60% overall in Physics, Chemistry, Biology plus 50% English marks. The application for AFMC selection remains open to you since you passed previously and aim to improve your grade yet meet the necessary eligibility requirements including medical standards.

According to sources, NEET/UG scores acceptable for MBBS at Armed Forces Medical College would range from 615 to 645 out of 720. The boys generally need 615 to 620 (AIR 4000 to 5000), while girls require 640-645 (AIR 2000-3000) because of fewer seats (25 vs. 105).

An initial NEET cutoff is considered, followed by an AFMC screening (ToELR, interview, medicals) that adjusts this merit list. This goes down to 550-580 for reserved categories.

Obtaining a score of 600 in NEET PG might be adequate for an MD degree in Pathology at the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) in some years.

The common range of NEET scores for MD/MS at AFMC is from 550 to 600 out of 800, and Pathology is less competitive than other branches like Surgery (which falls between 600 and 650). A score of 600 typically implies an All India Rank (AIR) below 5000, which is enough for the DGAFMS shortlist. The final admission is based on an interview and medical fitness tests plus about 20 to 30 seats for PG students every year across the specialties. 600 is a pretty good score for 2025, though cutoffs keep cha

For BMLT students of the Armed Forces Medical College, the "the highest package" means a military salary compared to civilian packages. The Armed Forces Medical College's BMLT is rolled under the Bachelor of Paramedical Technology programme, which trains the students for the armed forces.
Thereafter, members are posted as technical staff with pay grades starting from Level 6-7 under the 7th CPC-that is, about INR 35,000-50,000 month (4.2-6 LPA) including allowances. In rare civilian transitions, one can reach about 8-10 LPA in private diagnostics or hospitals after experience. There are no exact figures for 2023, but the military
