Merit list does not conforms that you are selected. If you want to join that institute, you should go for the counselling process and, there only you will come to know that you are selected or not.

After Bachelor Degree, you can go for Masters & PhD
But, all depends on your desire. You can also opt for Professor or a taxonomist or even research scholar.

For admission into government medical colleges in general category you need a score around 500 while for private medical colleges you need around 350.

OP Tandon, RC Mukherjee & NCERT textbooks are enough to score good marks moreover very often old AIEEE or IIT JEE question papers are very helpful in getting good position.
