No, you cannot. There are no lateral entry admissions in IITs and NITs till now.
So, you may opt for other colleges through lateral entry.

That is a bit wrong probably your parents don't know the whole story. Automobile has a lot of scope. So here's what you do:
Go to Shiksha.com and then search for IITs, go for automobile course and look at their placement, it would be in Lacs and in very good companies. Get in touch with some seniors or relatives who have done automobile engineering and share their success stories. Prove that automobile has a scope. Well, there are many other courses which have even more scope like CS but do what you love and do it from the best college like IITs. Happy to help you! Follow your dreams.
